THESE two teams had battled all season with the Burra Girls getting the win on most occasions and, to half-time in the grand final, this looked to be going to script, with the Burra Girls in a commanding position leading 24-14.
Over the first 10 minutes of the second half, the T-Birds started to put their game together and the scoreboard starting ticking over. Bianca Ford hit a three, Pauline Hartz followed suit and the young underdogs were within two, with the score 24-26.
Time out to the Burra Girls at nine minutes on the clock and the grand final was up for grabs.
It seemed though that the T-birds burned too much energy in their fightback and the Burra Girls with their steady heads pushed the lead back out as they locked down the defensive end, restricting their opponent to just four more points. The Burra Girls finished the game 39-28 winners.
