TWO team members from the Bendigo Braves coached aspiring young basketball players at the Daylesford ARC last Wednesday.
Keith Davis and Chris Hogan, who play for the Bendigo Braves Senior Mens team in the South Eastern Australian Basketball League, took charge of the clinic with 21 children participating from Daylesford and surrounding areas.
Daylesford Springers Basketball Association secretary Adrian Maude said it was a fantastic day.
"It was very inspiring for kids to see top-level players in our town," Mr Maude said.
"They were very good ambassadors for their team and their attitude to the kids was brilliant.
"They were clever at mixing fun with skills training."
He said they had shown an interest in supporting the development of all players by varying the program to suit individual's needs.
The clinic included training, competitions and encouragement awards where children were given prizes by the coaches.
Mr Maude said the Daylesford Springers had developed team members over the years that were now playing in elite competitions with the Bendigo Braves and Ballarat Miners.
He said the children who joined in the clinic were aged between five and 16 years with different levels of experience as some had played for Daylesford and Kyneton competitions while others were new to the game.
He said they hoped to repeat the clinic next school holidays and get more children involved as the stadium could hold more than 100 kids.
