The Victorian Athletic League Board has granted the carnival non-penalty status.
Event coordinator Adrian Tinetti said this was a real bonus for the event. "The runners will be at their peak in the lead-up to Stawell and will be able to run without fear of a handicap penalty for Stawell," Mr Tinetti said.
This year will also see a step back in time with a change in distance for the Telstra $2000 Daylesford Gift.
The gift will be run over 100 yards and headline a full program of Victorian Athletic League events from 60 metres to 2km.
"We're also holding a footballer's relay as a new novelty event for this year," Mr Tinetti said.
Other activities on the day include the all-comers 3.2km cross country, the Rotary Club of Daylesford Under-18 100m, Camp Quality children's races and an on-course bookmaker.
Entry is $10 adults and $5 concession and children.
All CFA and SES volunteers and their families are admitted free of charge.
