THE Creswick and District Development
Association has raised enough money for works to begin on its Magic Pudding Playground.
The playground is to form part of the Lindsay Arts Trail, which aims to reveal the town's history through the eyes of the Lindsay family, who lived in the town.
The existing playground at Raglan St is to be transformed to reflect the famous Norman Lindsay story.
"There will be some characters from The Magic Pudding and some story boards," Creswick and District Development Association Margaret Giles said.
"`It has a lot of appeal to our children but it has a tourism appeal as well."
The association has raised $11,000 towards the playground and has received a $60,000 Sport and Recreation grant, a $10,000 council grant and funding from the Community Bank and other businesses.
Ms Giles said work could go ahead, contingent on the playground getting copyright approval for the Magic Pudding theme.
She said the Creswick and District Development Association planned to put $15,500 towards the project
Fundraising activities are underway to raise the remaining sum, including a dinner to be held at The American Hotel, Albert St, Creswick, on Saturday, February 20, from 6.30pm.
Special guest speaker will be Robert Littlewood, a renowned art dealer who travels the world looking for rare Lindsay paintings and etchings.
An auction will be held on the night.
Cost is $65 and tickets are available from Creswick and District Community Bank.
