Volunteers recognised on International Volunteers Day

07 Dec, 2011 12:00 AM
HEPBURN Health Services, along with Hepburn Shire Council, celebrated International Volunteer Day last Friday with a lunch for local volunteers.

The lunch was held at the Newlyn Recreation Reserve, with up to 250 volunteers in attendance.

It was an opportunity to acknowledge and thank the volunteers for their commitment and contribution to Hepburn Shire throughout the year, and for volunteers to be waited on and served by those organisations that they supported.

Guest speakers included storyteller Anne Stewart and Worksafe Victoria's Ian Sandlant.

Ms Stewart discussed her journey as a storyteller while Mr Sandlant held an informative session on the safety and the rights and responsibilities of volunteers.

MC for the day was Paul Taylor from the 3BA Big Show weekday mornings.
