The pipes, the pipes are calling ... in Daylesford

29 Sep, 2009 10:52 AM
DAYLESFORD and District Pipes and Drums needs new members.

The Scottish pipe band, formed five years ago, performs at an array of community events in the region and beyond.

But founder Chris Sinclair said numbers had dwindled and the group was now seeking new members keen to learn how to play the bagpipes or the drums.

"Due to circumstances, like people moving away, our numbers have gone down a fraction so we are looking for some new blood," he said.

"Our members come from all walks of life and it's all good fun."

Mr Sinclair urged those keen to learn traditional Scottish musical form not to be deterred by having no experience.

The band, with members aged from 10 to over 60, has rehearsals on Wednesday nights.

"We want anyone who wants to learn to come along and give it a go," Mr Sinclair said.

Details: 5348 4946.
