PEOPLE from all walks of faith are welcome to join "prayers in the paddock" at Little Hampton Church on Saturday, September 12, 11am
Highlands Cluster Uniting Church reverend Sally Douglas said the day was an opportunity for people to think about how they treated the Earth and their environmental footprint, particularly after the devastation of last year's bushfires and the continuing drought.
"There are very few spaces for people to come together and share our hopes and concerns for the Earth," Rev Douglas said.
"It is an opportunity to be still, to commune with the divine and together to celebrate the Earth's beauty, lament its suffering and share concerns for its future care."
Reverend Douglas said art materials would be provided and people were welcome to join in any way "which was comfortable" including offering prayers, writing some thoughts, lighting a candle or sitting with each other.
The service would include songs, stories and prayers for the Earth.
"No pressure. No expectations. No need to book," Rev Douglas said.
"Just a day with some space. Sometimes I think we can all long for a day like this."
