A BOOK that captured her imagination as a child was the inspiration behind Maria Mormile's award-winning body art display at The Australian Body Art Carnival in Eumundi, Queensland last week.
Ms Mormile won the body painting category, which was based on the theme of "fantasy".
"I wanted to get it from a different point of view," Ms Mormile said.
"When I was a child I read the book The Folk of the Faraway Tree.
"There was something about that book that made you imagine all these things.
"It's about what you don't see rather than what you do see."
The mannequin she created the design on is at the Daylesford Tourist Information centre for viewing.
Ms Mormile, who describes body art as a risque way to express one's self, moved to Porcupine Ridge earlier this year and has set up a body art and face painting business in the town.
She has also established The Australian Body Art Awards and Convention that will be held at Daylesford Town Hall on February 18 to 22.
There will be workshops in Daylesford for a week leading up to the event.
