Wind Park to bank with Daylesford and District Community Bank

09 Mar, 2010 12:16 PM
DAYLESFORD and District Community Bank is a step closer to opening.

Hepburn Community Wind Park has committed to move its banking over to the Daylesford and District Community Bank once established.

Chris Sedgman, chair of the Community Bank Steering Committee, welcomed the announcement.

"The addition of this banking business will help ensure the viability of the Community Bank from the start of its operations," she said.

"We thank Hepburn Wind for this demonstration of confidence in our bank's future. The bank will, naturally, endeavour to source its power needs from the wind farm."

Ms Sedgman said 301 intending shareholders in the bank had now pledged $869,000.

"This brings us close to the point when we can conduct a feasibility study to confirm that we can proceed with the share float and set a date for the opening of the bank in Daylesford with a sub-branch in Trentham," she said.

"We still need more supporters to pledge to become shareholders."
