NEIGHBOURHOOD houses in the Hepburn Shire will share $184,676 in grants to bring facilities up to scratch.
Daylesford Neighbourhood Centre will get a $46,182 boost, while Hepburn Health Service will receive $75,000 for major works at Clunes neighbourhood House.
Creswick Adult Learning Centre and Neighbourhood House will also benefit with $13,494 for Information and Communication programs, and the Trentham Neighbourhood House will get a $50,000 boost for construction of a new classroom and increased
administration space.
Ballarat East MLA Geoff Howard said the funding was the first round of a $12.4 million, four year effort to improve neighbourhood house infrastructure, extend operating hours and create nine new neighbourhood houses in Victoria.
"Neighbourhood houses give people a chance to develop new skills, meet new people and pursue new recreational opportunities in their local community," he said.
Mr Howard said residents across the Hepburn Shire deserved the best neighbourhood house facilities.
Creswick Adult Learning Centre and Neighbourhood House manager Tony Redmond said the grant would help renovate a new computer room which would house more computers.
Painting, new carpet and a new roof on the centre and the hall were also on the agenda.
