THE Trentham community will be the first to view a film produced by young people as part of Trentham FReeZA Claymation Camp.
The Trentham Film Society will host the February 4 event at the Trentham Neighbourhood Centre along with a selection of short films made with and by young people from the shire over the past two years.
Shire Youth Development co-ordinator Jane Barclay said the screening of the Claymation Camp film would mark the first major achievement for the Trentham FReeZA group.
"We are all very excited to see the result," Ms Barclay said.
Claymation Camp is an initiative of young people taking part in Trentham FReeZA, bringing eight local young people together with renowned filmmaker Adam Whitbread for a three-day intensive film-making experience from January 19.
"The idea is about providing participants with enough skills to be able to go and experiment on their own," she said.
The other films selected to screen on the night will represent a range of young people and film styles from across the shire.
The 2008 Cannes second-prize winner Jerry Can featuring Clunes township and young people will also be screened.
"Finding ways to connect around the same interests is a wonderful way young people to be included in community life," Ms Barclay said.
The screening will be held at 7pm.
