Thieves target businesses

31 Jul, 2007 10:16 AM

THIEVES have again targeted Daylesford businesses with two break-ins in the past week.

A 20-year-old Daylesford man will be charged with burglary and theft after Vincent St shop Scotts Liquor was ram-raided on Sunday morning.

Sergeant Andrew Guiney said a vehicle was driven through the front window of the store about 6.10am.

Police said the damage bill was $15,000 and $800 worth alcohol was taken.

Meanwhile forensic police have inspected Daylesford Post Office after a burglary estimated to have cost $1000 in damage and stolen goods.

Crime Investigation Unit police scoured the Vincent St building after it was targeted by thieves last Friday morning.

Offenders smashed the front door and stole four mobile phones valued at a total of $500 from inside the building at 3.45am.

A glass cabinet was also smashed.

Meanwhile, a car was also stolen from Camp St Daylesford early yesterday. Offenders tried to steal another in Liddle St.

Sgt Guiney encouraged anyone who saw a 1985 silver Ford Falcon Station Wagon to call police.
