SPRINGS Medical Centre has moved into its new premises opposite Daylesford Hospital and the Community Health Centre.
Dr Jon Barrell of Springs Medical Centre said he was "delighted" with the new venue, built in association with Hepburn Health Service and the Federal Government.
The $2.4 million purpose-built medical facility was designed to consolidate Daylesford's medical resources.
"This state of the art building brings together 11 doctors, nurses, medical students, physiotherapy, psychology and pathology under one roof," Dr Barrell said.
"It will prolong the practising life of our existing clinicians and aid the recruitment of the next generation of clinicians to serve our communities."
Now the new building is open, the medical centre is preparing to forge a new relationship with Deakin University. Two students will spend spend 40 weeks a year in Daylesford as part of a strategy to get more medical students trained for general practice. Centre management expected
to commence the program in coming weeks.
"We are proud of our association with St John of God Pathology and the Deakin University Medical School and we thank our hardworking staff for making the move possible," Dr Barrell said.
