CRESWICK teenager Caelli Greenbank is Hepburn Shire's Young Citizen of the Year. Robert Campbell, of Clunes,
won the Citizen of the Year, while Clunes' Booktown for a Day took out the Community Event of the Year.
Shire chief executive officer Victor Szwed said 15-year-old Caelli had been active in the Creswick community for
half her life, extensively with the Guides and CFA.
"Caelli has developed a strong relationship with the Creswick RSL and was asked to be a speaker at the 2006 Anzac
Day Service," he said.
Last year she was one of 10 teenagers to win the Premier's Spirit of Anzac prize.
Mr Szwed said Mr Campbell's community involvement had been remarkably long, involved and diverse.
"Robert has prepared the Clunes Agricultural Show schedule for the past 10 years and has been grounds manager
for 31 years," he said. "He has been a member of the Clunes Fire Brigade for 36 years and secretary for 17 years."
Mr Campbell is also involved in the Clunes Museum and has written five local history books.
He is a JP, was instrumental in the building of the Clunes Young Farmers Clubrooms, has been a Cemetery Trustee
since 2001 and is a Clunes Hospital Committee Life Governor.
He is also involved in Ullina Landcare, Ullina Park Recreation Committee, Clunes Primary School and Clunes
Community Centre.
Mr Szwed said the success of the Clunes Booktown for a Day event had attracted thousands of visitors.
The awards were presented last night and included an Australian citizenship ceremony for Keith Judson, Paula
Judson, Patrician Lees, Barbara Scanlan, Eresh Prasanna Tantiriwatta, Fedor Torgovnidov and Ekaterina
Torgovnidova.
