Schools improve facilities

20 Jun, 2006 11:40 AM
EXTRA money will benefit 10 schools in the Hepburn Shire after a $50 million maintenance boost from the state budget.

The schools will share about $1 million to address their most urgent maintenance needs.

Ballarat East MLA Geoff Howard said maintenance work would include roofing, asphalting, electrical and plumbing upgrades.

"The extra money will be provided to schools before the end of the month, so they can get to work on the most urgent repairs," he said.

Yandoit Primary School principal Debbie Rauber said getting the maintenance money in "one go" would benefit the small school.

"We can get all of the work done at once. It's terrific," she said.

Ms Rauber said the school would be painted inside and out which would bring it up to the standard of other schools in the area.

Funding allocations include:

* Creswick Primary School ($1709)

* Newlyn Primary School ($2604)

* Yandoit Primary School ($27,191)

* Hepburn Primary School ($149,101)

* Bullarto Primary School ($80,350)

* Trentham District Primary School ($44,941)

* Daylesford Primary School ($271,926)

* Drummond Primary School ($5427)

* Creswick North Primary School ($1664)

* Daylesford Secondary College ($652,258).
