VICTORIA'S premier women's cricketers were in action last weekend at Cricket Willow in Shepherds Flat.
Vic Spirit played an intra-squad practice match to sharpen their skills.
The Spirit squad included Australian youth representatives Emma Inglis, Rachel Haynes, Tammy Norquay and Julie Hunter.
The squad was split into two teams for a 50 overs-a-side clash.
Vic Spirit coach Ken Davis said the match was the girls' first competitive hit out.
"The whole squad's been working hard in the nets and at the gym but like all cricketers, they're really keen to take their skills onto the field," he said.
"This is a great opportunity to blow away a few cobwebs, and also for some of our emerging players to impress in match conditions in a great setting."
Davis said the squad had identified batting as the area requiring the most improvement based on the results of last season.
