A LEARNER driver, with a blood-alcohol reading of 0.04 per cent, was stopped by police on Sunday at 2am.
The offence is the latest in a spate of drink-driving and speeding offences that have resulted in Daylesford Police calling for drivers to slow down and obey driving laws.
Earlier this month another driver was pulled over after being clocked driving at 152km/h in a 100km/h zone in Eganstown on the Midland Highway.
Over the past month up to 20 speeding tickets have been handed out as a result of random radar checks with a total of eight drink drivers caught risking their lives and licences.
Daylesford Senior Constable Simon Barker said that in the lead-up to the Christmas holidays every car pulled over would be breath-tested and booze buses would also make random appearances in Daylesford.
"Police will be targeting all roads coming in and out of Daylesford, booze buses will be stationed around town and every car that gets pulled over will be breath tested," he said.
"Drivers should be aware there is a national campaign, RAID - Remove All Impaired Drivers - which is aimed at all drivers impaired by drugs or alcohol."
Sen-Constable Barker said that over the past month five drivers had lost their licences for drink driving. This figure did not include the three drivers caught in the past week.
"Drivers need to be aware of the road rules and that we have zero tolerance for those who are breaking the rules," he said.
"We all want to make it through the Christmas season."
