A SCIENTIST with a deep interest in the environment will become the pastor of the Daylesford Presbyterian Church this month.

Dr David Angus said he wanted to engage with the local community through The Cosmic Christ - a new community activity of the local church.

He has planned to host discussion groups under the title "Discussing Christianity", to be held at the Neighbourhood House.

Dr Angus said people in the community were invited to participate, ask questions and throwing up ideas, no matter how outrageous they might seem.

The first topic will be "Jesus the Revolutionary".

Dr Angus also hoped to hold a street stand one weekend a month in Vincent St.

Dr Angus has a Bachelor of Science in physics and a Doctor of Philosophy in soil science and Plant Physiology.

He was a research scientist for 20 years with CSIRO and then a senior academic in the universities of California, Queensland and Melbourne.

He is a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Physics, a Member of the Australian Institute of Agricultural Science and a Member of the Institution of Engineers Australia.

He can be contacted on deangus@netconnect.com.au
