IN AN effort to determine future needs, the council will undertake a study of car parking in the business precincts of Daylesford, Hepburn Springs and Creswick.
The State Government's Community Satisfaction Survey has revealed that residents had concerns about parking arrangement in these towns.Mayor Tim Hayes said the parking requirements of the three towns were all quite different.
"The study is expected to reveal the concerns and ideas of residents, businesses and visitors to these towns," he said.
"The availability of short and long-term car parking and the impact to residents and motorists are among issues that residents have raised."
"Mid-week and weekend parking needs will also be explored," Cr Hayes said.
The study will also consider if there is a correct mix of short and long term parking in township and residential precincts. The council formed an internal reference group in response to the community concerns with the next step to employ a consultant to undertake the study with expressions of interest to be called early next month.
The consultant will conduct the study in consultation with businesses, residents and community groups.
The consultant will provide recommendations to council on short and long term requirements.
It will also guide the development of Parking Precinct Plans to be incorporated into the Hepburn Planning Scheme.
