Old Trentham pool gets uncovered

19 Sep, 2006 09:41 AM
THE old Trentham Swimming Pool has been uncovered while developing a new nature park at the Bath St Reserve.

Participants from Green Corps have radically transformed the reserve which will feature picnic areas and a boardwalk.

The shallow end of the swimming pool is planned to become a picnic area.

Project team leader Maryann Faulks said the Green Corps participants had been working very hard to improve the historical reserve.

"The fencing is finished and the boardwalk is ready for its top," she said.

Ms Faulks said the area had a rich indigenous heritage and was a major catchment for Bendigo's water supply.

"We are using minimal chemicals," she said.

The nine participants are learning about weed management, the history of the area and preparing a website.

Green Corps participant Kim Paul said the community was very supportive.

"A lot of people come and say we are doing a fantastic job. We have a lot of people help out," she said.

A tree planting day with the Trentham and District Primary School is planned for October 3.
