Newlyn Eisteddford success

17 Aug, 2011 12:00 AM
STUDENTS of Newlyn piano teacher Bronislaw Sozanski shared a total of 61 awards, including 14 first places, in the recent Royal South Street piano competitions.

The students performed in all age groups from eight years and under to the VCE and open sections.

Three students were also acknowledged with special encouragement awards.

Mr Sozanski said that the competitions provided a valuable performance opportunity for students.

"Preparation includes a performance workshop day and regular concert classes, where stagecraft and performance skills are taught," he said.

The three local students who performed were Isabelle Fitzgerald of Daylesford, two second places, Nicola Penny of Sailors Falls, a first place and Tahnee-Lei Paderno of Lyonville, a second place.

Isabelle sat for her grade two exam in July and was awarded an A grading.
