me10:THE lessees of the Pav
ilion Cafe and Restaurant at
Hepburn Mineral Springs
say they will continue to
improve and expand the
business.
Mehmet and Surmeli
Aydogan have renewed their
lease for another five years
from November 30 after run
ning the business for the past
11 months.
They say they are looking
forward to expanding the
menu.
"We plan to have more var
iety of Turkish bread and
multicultural food," Mr
Aydogan said.
Down the track, Mr and
Mrs Aydogan also plan to
employ more staff.
"I feel I can do a good job
here," Mr Aydogan said.
"It's very busy here and we
do well."
Mr Aydogan said a lot of
local people liked Turkish
cuisine and he was commit
ted to meeting the needs of
the community.
Hepburn Shire Council's
director of corporate ser
vices, Chris Cowley, said
that over the past 11 months
Mr and Mrs Aydogan had
met their responsibilities on
time and had become part of
the community.
"The existing tenants have
established and are operat
ing a business for which they
are keen to improve and
expand," he said.
Mr Cowley said a consor
tium had shown interest in
the lease of the pavilion.
"All were interviewed to
seek information, clarify
their respective submissions
and to give them an oppor
tunity to verbally add to
their proposals," he said.
Mr Cowley said both par
ties met the criteria but the
consortium had not done any
significant business plan
ning and it had no insurance.
Mr Arydogan has been
cooking for about 20 years.
"I have always had a
Turkish restaurant and
moved onto cafes," he said.
"We are very happy here."
The Pavilion Cafe and Res
taurant is open every day
except Christmas Day and
specialises in Turkish food.
It also has snacks and an
inside and outside eating
area.
