DAYLESFORD and District Food Aid will have a fresh approach to 2012 with the donation of a new cool room trailer.
Founder of Daylesford and District Food Aid, Carmel Thannhauser, said the new trailer would assist the food aid committee to collect about 300kg of fresh and frozen food from the Yarraville Foodbank warehouse each fortnight.
"We wish to thank all our donors and are proud of our new trailer presented early January by Coolrooms Galore," Mrs Thannhauser said.
"The food aid committee, a not-for-profit organisation in Daylesford, have raised money over most of the year 2011 towards the cool room trailer.
"The committee and other volunteers sold raffle tickets at the Farmer's Arms Hotel, Daylesford on the Friday night meat raffle, with the total donation from the hotel a huge $2080. "Other donations were received towards this project from St Vincent de Paul Daylesford, Coolrooms Galore, and Daylesford Club 30."
She said the new trailer would help the committee to ensure there was no food insecurity in the Hepburn Shire.
The Foodbank has a selection of dry, fresh and frozen foods and is open on Monday, Thursday and Friday afternoons between 1pm and 3pm at Stanbridge Hall on Central Springs Rd, Daylesford.
Anybody in need is welcome.
