SEVENTEEN soldiers who returned from World War I and settled at Sutton Park have been remembered with a monument unveiled late last month.
Spokeswoman Rhonda Smith said hundreds of people, including many descendants, attended the Newlyn service.
Ms Smith said the soldiers were allotted blocks of land ranging from 59 acres to 283 acres with prices varying from 11 to 32.
"A public meeting was held in Newlyn in July 2007 to discuss a proposal for a monument to commemorate these 17 soldiers that settled on Sutton Park," Ms Smith said.
