VICTORIA'S newest answer to public transport ticketing confusion rolled into Daylesford during the week.
The myki system will replace ticketing systems on all Ballarat and Bendigo buses, V/Line trains and coaches and the entire Melbourne metropolitan public transport network.
It is anticipated, when rolled-out, myki will eliminate the need for users to carry money.
Instead users buy a myki card and pay as they go.
The fare of any journey is calculated when passengers scan the card against a machine as they board on and off buses, trains and trams.
Myki community relations manager Deidre Anderson said the regional tour was designed to educate people about how the system will work before its introduction next year.
"That's why we are out here telling people," Ms Anderson said.
"Everyone is very positive about it. It makes life a lot easier for people particularly if they don't understand the zones system in Melbourne or whether they need a short-trip or two hour ticket.
"It's like a pre-paid mobile phone card, when passengers scan on and off it will always calculate the cheapest fare for the user."
Myki will be piloted later this year.
Ms Anderson said the myki mobile discovery centre tour across regional Victoria was proving to be popular with people curious about how the new system will work.
"You don't have to understand anything about which ticket you will need or which zone you are in. It's been really busy in the morings and afternoons with people coming in curious about it."
The mobile van features examples of how the system will look and work and information for visitors.
