Masterplan plans recreation future

12 Sep, 2006 10:33 AM
PLANNING is underway for the future of recreation in the Hepburn Shire.

Master plans for Calembeen Park in Creswick, Park St Reserve in Trentham, and Victoria Park in Daylesford have been developed and considered along with other competing priorities as part of the shire's Recreation Strategy.

The masterplans are short- and long-term strategic plans for the future upgrading and development of the reserves, subject to available funding.

Council tourism and recreation manager Geoff Ryan said masterplans were developed to allow for balance and a diverse range of recreation opportunities for all community members.

Staged strategies and recommendations from the master plans will be examined as part of the Recreation Strategy.

The group project study also included a site analysis for a community playground in the Daylesford township. The Daylesford Youth Reserve was the most appropriate site and the council has already allocated money from this year's budget to commence

the project.

"The recommendations in the report will now be considered at part of the Recreation Study and we appreciate all the input from the community," Mr Ryan said.

"These masterplans provide a useful guide for potential development of these reserves and include a number of possible projects," Mr Ryan said.

Mr Ryan said these needed to be assessed as to whether they are feasible or not.

The report and plans are being distributed to each of the reserve user groups or contact Jill Shaw on 5321 6111.

A meeting of user groups is proposed to discuss the potential funding opportunities for the proposed projects.
