Major upgrade to disability access

19 Sep, 2006 09:41 AM
A MAJOR upgrade at the Daylesford Post Office will improve disability access.

A second entrance will be added to the side of the shop on the weekend of October 14.

This will cater for the disabled, the elderly, people with prams and customers who find the steps at the front entrance difficult to manage.

New manager Kylie O'Brien said the shop would be refitted with new carpet and a coat of paint.

"We are also increasing the range of stock and services," she said.

"A full range of Australia Post products and postal services will be available on Saturday mornings upon completion of the shop upgrade."

From Melton, the new owners have a diverse work history in their previous employment including the financial industry, retail, warehouse management, social justice and policy development, education and training.

Kylie's father Michael O'Brien said Daylesford was a nice, relaxed environment to work in.

"We've waited six years for something to come up. We believe the town has a big future," he said.

The O'Briens aim to provide a friendly, reliable, professional service and a pleasant shopping environment.

Ms O'Brien said previous owner Danny Moynihan had helped them in the transition period.

The post office is open Monday to Friday from 9am to 5pm. It will be open on Saturdays between 9am and noon after the renovations.
