CONTINENTAL House was chosen as the location for the art house flick, I Won't Grow Up, for its "child-like feel", director Ben Hackworth said.
The multi award-winning film maker from Brisbane said he was attracted to the house on a visit to Hepburn Springs.
"It's a strange location that has a child-like feel to it. It's got pastel colours and strange lines," he said.
Mr Hackworth assembled a cast of six Australian actors including Nick Cave's son Jethro and multiple AFI nominated actresses Rebecca Frith, Belinda McClory and Susan Lyons to shoot the film.
The crew of about 20 have been filming in Hepburn Springs since November 23 and are expected to finish this Friday.
Inspired by the story of the late theatre director Richard Wherrett, who died of aids, I Won't Grow Up is an epic story about morality, the nature of identity and performance.
Lead actor Conor O'Hanlon follows in the great tradition of non-actors and doesn't have a script. He would normally be home in Melbourne washing dishes and writing.
"It's self reflective in a lot of ways," Mr Hackworth said.
The film has the potential to travel well on the international film festival circuit and will be viewed in February. Local businesses made the low budget film possible.
