JAKE BRADLEY said it was "pretty special" to lay a wreath at the tomb of the unknown soldier at a ceremony at the Australian War Memorial recently.
The Grade 5 pupil from Bullarto Primary School was on a school camp with primary schools across Hepburn Shire earlier this month when he was selected to lay the wreath.
He was also presented with a badge for taking part in the ceremony.
Bullarto Primary School principal Sue Beel said a ceremony was held at the war memorial every day and selected school groups were invited to attend.
She said Ballarat MHR Catherine King spoke at the ceremony and then to the pupils afterwards.
Thirty-six pupils from Hepburn, Newlyn, Mt Blowhard, Learmonth, Yandoit, Bullarto, Smeaton and Creswick North primary schools attended the camp, which is held every two years.
Attractions visited included the National Dinosaur Museum, Canberra Space Dome, National Museum, Questacon, Royal Australian Mint, Australian War Memorial, Old Parliament House, National Institute of Sport, Electoral Education Centre,
Parliament House and Canberra International Sports and Aquatic Centre.
