DAYLESFORD Fire Brigade will open a Community Information Centre in the Rex.
Brigade captain Don Anderson said it would be one of the few country towns to have such a centre.
"This will be a stand alone premises and it is planned that it will provide useful information about the CFA, local conditions and issues to residents and visitors," he said.
A major area of the centre will incorporate memorabilia from the early days of the fire brigade and its role in the area.
It will feature relics including old uniforms, hose reels, stretchers and first-aid, plus information on modern appliances and equipment.
The centre will open its doors on February 1 before an official opening later in the month.
Daylesford Fire Brigade is one of the oldest brigades in Victoria and the centre is the beginning of the lead up to the Daylesford Fire Brigade's 150 Year Anniversary in 2011.
"We know there are many residents who have served Daylesford in firefighting roles over the years and we would like to hear from them," Mr Anderson said.
The brigade is looking for any additional information, photos, relics, uniforms or equipment that local residents may have that would add to the centre's display and/or enhance next year's celebrations.
These can either be leant or permanently donated to add to the collection that the brigade has collected to date.
Mr Anderson said the generosity of The Rex had made the Community Information Centre possible.
The Rex offered the space to the brigade at a substantially discounted rate.
