THE progression of Creswick's Forestry Fiesta continued in 2007 according to organisers.
Crowd numbers were higher than last year at the 23rd fiesta on Sunday.
Publicity officer Damien Malone said the fiesta attracted a range of age groups, which kept central Creswick busy throughout the day.
"A good mix of youth, adults and older people attended and that's pleasing for Creswick," Mr Malone said.
"The event was the result of a fantastic effort from organisers," he said.
Creswick pharmacist Jeff Unmack won the popular Gopher Grand Prix. The race attracted about 35 competitors including Ballarat East MLA Geoff Howard, federal election candidate Belinda Coates and Ballarat MHR Catherine
King.
The car show and the battle of the bands were also well-supported by patrons.
The Brackenbury Classic marathon and Creswick Cycling Criterium attracted strong competitors, with Olympian Steve Moneghetti a late entry in the running event.
Final tallies of the event's proceeds will be totalled at a meeting tonight at 8pm at the Bill Huntley Function Room.
Mr Malone said Creswick's businesses had reported strong sales throughout the day.
"As with all organising committees we are always looking for new members to continue the evolution of the Forestry Fiesta," Mr Malone said.
Mr Malone said the festival's sponsors played a major role in the event's success.
"They helped a lot by providing funds to attract the numbers we did," Mr Malone said.
