Hype greets IGA opening

22 Aug, 2006 09:56 AM
HYPE surrounded the new IGA supermarket's opening in Daylesford on Saturday.

Formally Nico's, the supermarket opened its doors last Tuesday, with an official opening on Saturday.

Owner Jenny Ganim said the community had been fantastic while the new store was trying to find its feet.

"Everyone loved the changes but it still has the old feel. It's clear and bright," she said. "The town people have been amazing."

Ms Ganim said she was keen to hear feedback from people.

"If we don't stock things people want, we can get it in," she said.

Customers were treated to extra specials and balloons for the children at the opening.

The supermarket underwent a complete overhaul, which took more than a month.

Ms Ganim said everyone seemed happy with the result.

"Hopefully we can grow," she said.

Ms Ganim said staff remained the same as the previous supermarket.

She said the supermarket had its own car park which she encouraged people to use.

Every Friday, the IGA supermarket will offer free wine tastings of local wines.

Ms Ganim invited everyone to the first local wine tasting this Friday which will feature Captains Creek Organic Wines.

IGA supermarket is open every day between 7am and 7pm. It will stay open until 9pm on Fridays and will open at 9am on Sundays.
