HEPBURN Shire's recently released Tourism Emergency Management Plan will help address situations such as last week's holiday house fire at Daylesford - but is really aimed at a broader emergency scenario like a bushfire.
Shire tourism manager Geoff Ryan said the "study part" of the plan had been completed and it was being rolled out to tourism providers over the coming months.
Key rings, fridge magnets and brochures detailing how to gain information and help in an emergency would be available for all accommodation owners, he said.
Mr Ryan also said a Firesafe Day would be held in conjunction with the CFA for tourism operators.
Last year just six operators turned up for the day which was a "disappointing" result, he said.
At last week's fire, at a house about four kilometres from Daylesford on the Daylesford-Trentham Rd, four families were forced to flee after fire broke out in the meter box.
There was no mobile coverage although there was a land line in the house.
The family members were lucky enough to meet Trentham Police members driving past at the same time they went looking for help.
Mr Ryan said all holiday accommodation should have land lines connected - and that could be an issue for council or Tourism Victoria.
Mr Ryan said it was possible to have a telephone that was barred from all calls except emergency services.
