HEPBURN Shire councillors will soon be singing from "the same hymn book".
Councillors and senior management are taking part in the Top Teams Program, a program adapted from the United Kingdom that aims to unify elected members and management teams.
The Municipal Association of Victoria introduced the program to Australian and has been taken up by 40 of the state's 79 municipalities.
Shire chief executive officer Kaylene Conrick said the program recognised that councillors and senior managers needed to "work closely together as one team".
"Therefore there is the need to spend time focusing on developing an effective robust team," she said.
"The workshops assist in developing a clear direction as well as trust and respect in the organisation itself, and also in the community.
"The intention is to make clear the ambitions of council to enable us to provide better outcomes for our communities, essentially so that we are all singing from the same hymn book."
The program includes three half-day workshops.
The first was held in Daylesford last week with councillors and an external facilitator.
The second workshop will bring in the management team.
Ms Conrick said clear goals were already taking shape.
"The councillors are very conscious of environmental issues, both on a local and global level," she said.
"Land-use planning, the livability of our shire and the potential to attract some of the anticipated regional Victoria growth, have been topics for discussion."
