THE cost of dumping car tyres at the tip could be slashed from July 1.
As part of draft budget discussions, the Hepburn Shire Council has floated the idea of revising Domestic and Commercial Waste Tipping Fees.
At the moment, it costs $12 to dispose of a car tyre at one of the municipal's transfer stations.
But the fee structure shake-up would see that price drop to just $4.
Truck drivers, however, would be disadvantaged by the possible changes with the cost of dumping truck tyres set to almost double.
Council's 2009/10 fee structure outlined it currently costed $25 to scrap a truck tyre, $130 for a small tractor tyre and $200 for a large tractor tyre.
Next financial year, the cost of tractor tyres would remain the same but to the cost to dispose of a small truck tyre would jump to $30 and a large truck tyre could set you back $60. The Schedule of Fees and Charges 2010/2011 will be publicly advertised as part of the Draft Budget 2010/2011
and the community is invited to provide submissions.
