DAYLESFORD'S Stanbridge Street will continue to be used by heavy vehicles, after council voted last month to allow two B-double permits in the street.
Earlier this year, more than 40 residents signed a petition, calling on council to revoke permits given for the operation of B-doubles in the street, which runs through a residential area and terminates at a primary school.
In response, councillors called for a review of all existing permits.
At its August meeting council passed a motion allowing the current permit holder to stay.
It has also agreed to issue a second permit to operate in the street.
Hepburn Shire mayor Janine Booth said it was important to strike a balance between supporting industry in the shire and being mindful of the needs of residents.
"Council recognises that it is our industrial area and vehicles need to come out of there," Cr Booth said.
"It's about finding a balance and the appropriate routes for them to use."
Council is the process for the development of a Freight Strategy for Hepburn Shire.
"As a result of ongoing communications with residents, council resolved to develop a transport strategy right across the shire for all vehicle movements that will be developed in conjunction with VicRoads," Cr Booth said.
