THE 1st Daylesford Cub/Scouts are on the brink of closure because of dwindling numbers and a lack of leaders and supervisors.
Daylesford Scouts president Jennifer Fiume said the group would fold next year if parent support failed to improve.
She said current leaders had worked tirelessly for the past 10 years, but were unable to retire because there was nobody to replace them.
Ms Fiume said it was important to keep Scouts operating because it helped young people learn life skill and values.
"We have been a part of the Daylesford community for many years and it would be extremely sad to see the group close due to lack of interest," she said.
Six Scouts and about six Cubs are currently enrolled at Daylesford.
Ms Fiume said both groups offered a unique advantage for children.
"By enrolling your child in Scouts you are giving them the opportunity for a fun educational experience above and beyond what the school system offers," she said.
Ms Fiume called on adults to help fight to save the groups.
"If you enjoy working with youth and have new and creative ideas then this might be the time for you to become involved as a scout leader," she said.
Scouts is open to boys and girls between the ages of 10 and 14 and Cubs is open for children between seven and 10 years old.
