Great response to first event

MORE than 350 entries will contest

this weekend's inaugural Run for the

Willow at Cricket Willow in

Shepherds Flat.

Organiser Chris Tuohy has been

thrilled with the response.

"We've had great support from

athletes, sponsors, Hepburn Shire

and the Rotary Club of Daylesford to

put together a whole day of entertain

ment for all the family," he said.

The day will feature a heap of

events starting with the 6km

Dandeloo and Back fun run/walk.

The undulating course winds its

way through the willow plantation to

Basalt Rd and back through the

Wombat State Forest.

The $2000 100m Cricket Willow Gift

will feature some of the biggest

names in Australian sprinting includ

ing Stawell Gift winners Joshua Ross

and Jarrem Pearce.

The event is a fundraiser for the

Daylesford Access and Recreation

Centre appeal.

Registration for the fun run/walk

will be at 9am. The professional races

start at 12pm.

The final of the $2000 100m Cricket

Willow Gift will be run at 5pm.

Other activities include live music,

kids races, jumping castle, market stalls, an on-course bookmaker and

bud to bat tours.

Entry is $8 adults, $4 children or

$20 family. Further details are listed
