GLENFEST

31 Jan, 2006 11:42 AM
REGGAE and blues rhythms will anchor Glenlyon's first ever music festival, Glenfest, to be held in the picturesque Glenlyon Recreation Reserve on February 11.

One of Melbourne's premier reggae bands, Irie, is set to capture locals with its vibrant soca, funk and afro-Cuban rhythms.

The members of the band, who hail from various parts of the world, have a positive and uplifting message.

One of the finest blues players in Australia, Geoff Achison, and his band, the Souldiggers, will headline Glenfest with a style of R&B music that delivers a rollicking set of blues, funk and soul.

Geoff's live performance is guaranteed to rock Glenlyon.

Other tasty numbers to perform at Glenfest include Dr Rocket, The Monotones, Ceretoma, The Rainmakers, The Shy and local bands Horsewhipped, Tyquins Lane, The Fish, Deadwood, Ducks Nuts, Eamon Harragay, Sunny Haynes

and Brett Kelly.

The music festival also has a health and well-being focus and will include reiki, tarot, massage and shiatsu.

Children will be able to run free with a jumping castle, goat chariot rides, circus skills and face painting.

Food stalls will also be available.

There will be around 20 raffle prizes on the day, with all profits going to local charities including bushfire victims, local conservation and East Timor.

Event sponsors include the Glenlyon Progress Association, Independent Musos, Hepburn Shire Council, Freeza, Lake Cottages, Daylesford Day Spa, Wayne Stanley, Swiss Mountain Hotel, Kyneton Hire, Teekas Bazaar and Music

Aviva.

There will be a courtesy bus from Daylesford to the event every hour from 11am.

Tickets are on sale at Music Aviva and other local businesses.

Inquiries, contact Music Viva, Howe St, Daylesford.
