Friends of Cornish Hill install nesting boxes

30 Nov, 2011 01:00 AM
FEATHERtail gliders will be the lucky recipients of nesting boxes installed by the Friends of Cornish Hill on November 22.

Members of the Men's Shed and Year 9 Daylesford Secondary College students came to Cornish Hill to watch one of the nesting boxes being attached to a large tree.

The students had assembled 15 nesting boxes as part of woodwork class in August this year.

None of the students had visited Cornish Hill before and they were taken for a walk to see the vast amount of work taking place along Smith's Creek.

They were shown relics of the mining days and gained an insight into the importance of preserving the area as a remnant bushland and for its historical significance.

Many of the wild flowers were on display and the group were encouraged to look at the ground and respect where they were walking.
