Festival attracts over 2500

A SEA of pink, white, mauve and deep purple lavender greeted over 2500 people at Lavandula's annual Harvest Festival last Sunday.

The festival, held at Lavandula in Shepherds Flat, was a huge success in profiling the drought proof crop.

Lavandula farmer Carol White said, despite the stems being a little short, the lavender was luxurious.

The day was met with perfect weather conditions as the harvest was celebrated with entertainment, activities and local food and wine.

Ms White said there was about 30 local stall holders including chocolate makers, emu farmers and the chook man.

There was also masseurs under the trees, local artists and local woodfire lamb and goat rolls.

Lavender fairies tippy-toed around and handed out cookies.

Maryborough's Little Big Band and local Morris dancers entertained crowds.

"It was a true country fair," Ms White said.

"There was a good cross section of people."

The historic homestead was open for tours and Lavandula's storeroom was open for inspection.

The festival was held on three days last year due to increased attendances.
