Feast on Fraser rocks Clunes' music program

20 Mar, 2007 10:00 AM
FOOD and music have always complemented each other - and no more than at Clunes' Feast on Fraser.

The foodies' fundraiser, voted this year's Hepburn Springs Community Event of the Year, raised $1800 for more musical equipment at Clunes Primary School.

Clunes Tourist and Development Association's Jane Lesock said the association had given more than $12,000, to organisations including the Clunes CFA, Clunes Pre-School and 10 overseas children affected by the tsunami, in

just seven years of fundraising.

"Feast on Fraser is for the town. This year we had 60 diners and a very long waiting list," she said.

"All of the chefs are local and share the catering, local wineries donated wine and our raffles come from local businesses."

School principal Andrew Parry told a school assembly that Feast on Fraser was a "fantastic initiative" with the school benefiting from the "generous donations" throughout the night.

Mr Parry said the school, which has four budding rock bands, would buy two electric guitar packs, a keyboard, microphone stands and a bass guitar.
