Fancy footwear on display

SHOES of every shape and size are on display at Creswick Town Hall this week to raise funds for Creswick Hospital.

ABC Radio presenter Kathy Bedford officially launched the exhibition on Friday night, which was hailed "a display of fantasy, artistic creativity and colour built around the shoes".

Hospital auxiliary secretary Margaret Orr said she was very pleased with the exhibition, which was inspired by Creswick's Elephant Patch owner Jo Maxwell.

"We've had shoes come from all over, and people were very impressed," Mrs Orr said.

"We had between 200 and 300 people visit the exhibition over the weekend and we expect Probus Club and day centres to come throughout the week."

Two years ago the auxiliary ran Celebrating Women, a creative bras exhibition, which raised more than $6000 for the hospital, allowing televisions to be placed in all acute bedrooms.

Mrs Orr said some people who had been to the bra exhibition said the shoe exhibition was "equally as good".

"We're hoping to raise at least $6000 from this exhibition to buy amenities and equipment to benefit the patients and staff at the hospital and nursing home," she said.

The exhibition will be on display until this Sunday.
