Families return en masse to Jubilee Lake Caravan Park

01 Feb, 2012 12:00 AM
A REJUVENATED Jubilee Lake Caravan Park has brought back families to Daylesford over the holiday period.

Jubilee Lake Co-op Ltd secretary Judy Macleod said the park's occupancy rate for January was 60 per cent, compared to 23 per cent last year.

"It's so good to see the families back. The park has been filled with children," Ms Macleod said.

"One lady with six kids said it was the only way they, as a family, could afford a holiday in Daylesford."

Since taking over management of the park on September 2 last year, the co-op has refurbished facilities and developed plans to make the park bigger and better.

"We're gradually building the place back up to be better than what it ever was," Ms Macleod said.

I stayed there over new year and australia day, can't say I saw any "refurbished facilities". What I did see were campers crammed into any available space, dirty toilets with no paper and huge piles of fallen leaves and bark (hello, it's fire season!). The only improvement I could see was to some of the internal roads, which I was told the flood recovery program had done.
