Dulcinea wines spreading all over the world

DULCINEA Winery in Sulky celebrated its 10th shipment of wine to Japan last week.

Enthusiastic advocate for exporting his product, owner Rod Scott said 64 dozen (one pallet) bottles of red and white wine would reach the Kawabe Brewery in Inagawa in less than two weeks.

"The Kawabe Brewery is committed to further imports and are conducting an education program for their Japanese customers in the art of Australian wine," he said.

"A major part of the ongoing relationship between any Asian exporting success is the establishment of friendship between both parties."

Mr Stott said the Japanese still drink the traditional saki, but wine was becoming more popular.

"It's a growing market," he said.

Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Shiraz and Cabernet Sauvignon were among the wines exported to Japan.

Dulcinea Winery and vineyard was established in 1982 as a hobby. It developed into a business and caters for retail businesses and restaurants in Ballarat and the Daylesford area.

It has won more than 100 medals in wine shows across Australia over 20 years with one trophy and five gold medals and many silver and bronze.
