HER message was an inspirational one: "Five years cancer-free. Power to the pink ladies."
Daylesford resident and breast cancer survivor Kate Syer was one of the hundreds of people who attended the Mini-Field of Women in Daylesford last Tuesday, October 20.
More than 100 pink lady silhouettes graced the lawn at the lower end of Vincent St for the event, held to provide an opportunity for the public to pay tribute to friends, family and community members affected by breast cancer.
Ms Syer had received her clearance results just days before.
"I'm a survivor. I'm here to support the local ladies," Ms Syer said.
"It's nice to have everyone out in the town to support us."
The community was invited to take part by leaving a personal message of support on tags attached to the silhouettes.
Daylesford breast cancer survivor Barbara Smart had her own message of hope. She wrote: "Wishing us all a great future. No looking back."
The day was as much a celebration as it was a memorial.
It featured live music, face painting and a barbecue lunch provided by the Daylesford Lions Club.
Pupils from Daylesford Primary School also attended and wrote their own messages of support to family and friends.
Daylesford Breast Cancer Support Group member Ann Krause said it had been a great day for both women with breast cancer and for members of the community who had lost family or friends to the disease.
She said the event had raised $1000 for breast cancer support.
