SCOTTISH bands and dancers will
converge on Daylesford's Victoria
Park for the 54th annual Daylesford
Highland Gathering on Sunday,
December 3.
The highland gathering is set to attract over 400 bandspeople competing in the march past and pipe band championships.
Daylesford Highland Gathering Committee vice president Keith Pyers said there will be a mass band at the start and finish of competition.
"The mass band is very spectacular and colourful," he said.
"There will be 25 bands."
The highland gathering will feature competitive Scottish dancing on eight different platforms accompanied by live bag pipe music.
"It is all very picturesque," Mr Pyers said,
Clans and societies including the Victorian Scottish Union, the Royal Scottish Dance Society and the Scottish Gaelic Society of Melbourne, will offer their hospitality and answer questions.
Food and goods stalls will also be available including a Celtic bakery, Celtic music, baked potatoes, Scottish tartans and Scottish craft, towels and baby wear.
Mr Pyers expected people in their thousands to attend the event.
National Australia Bank managing director and chief executive officer John Stewart will be chieftain for the day.
The Daylesford Highland Gathering will start at 9am. Local Neil Chamberlain will open the event at 10.30am.
Cost is $10 for adults, $8 for pensioners and $1 for children accompanied with an adult.
Mr Pyers said everyone is welcome to come along.
"It is a good day had by all," he said.
