CRESWICK is experiencing a State Government funding rush with the announcement of three funding packages in as many days.
The town hall, Park Lake and Creswick Primary School were given a total of $181,500 to boost their facilities.
The latest funds, announced Monday, will see Creswick Town Hall undergo an expansive upgrade through a $93,500 Victorian Community Support Grant.
At the launch of the first stage of the refurbishment, Ballarat East MP Geoff Howard said the project would benefit all user groups, including seniors, theatre, sporting and special interest groups.
Stage one of the refurbishment will improve access to the entrance, electrical, lighting and heating upgrades, as well as restoration of the hall itself. The kitchen will also be upgraded.
At the Park Lake announcement on Friday, Mr Howard said the project would implement the first stage of a masterplan, which was created to guide the reserve's development.
The project will include the construction of a gravel pathway throughout the eastern side of the reserve, an informal avenue of drought-tolerant trees and drainage works to capture and direct stormwater run-off into the lake.
Friends of Park Lake committee chairman Bob Orr welcomed the funding and said it would allow the continual development of recreation facilities.
"The project will encourage greater use of the reserve by local residents as well as by tourists and regional tennis players, helping boost the local economy and further support the Mt Prospect Tennis Club," Mr Orr said.
Creswick Primary School is one of eight schools in the shire to share in a maintenance package.
Assistant principal Alleen Dellar said Creswick PS would use the money to upgrade its public toilets.
She said the school was surprised to receive the grant since a 2004-2007 project saw four temporary classrooms replaced with an administration building, classrooms and an adjoining gallery.
The Federal Government committed $600,000 to the development and the State Government contributed $916,000.
"We were really delighted to get this project. It's the icing on the cake really," Ms Dellar said.
Other schools to gain from the maintenance boost include Bullarto, Creswick North, Drummond, Newlyn and Yandoit primary schools and Daylesford Secondary College.
