A TRADITIONAL name for the Hepburn Pool could be considered, Hepburn Shire Mayor Heather Mutimer said.
At a special council meeting resident Christian Wild asked the council if it had asked the Jarra people about traditionally naming the historical pool.
"It's important we recognise Aborginal culture that existed in the past and that exists now," he said.
Cr Mutimer favoured the idea and said she would look into it.
This followed the reinstatement of public liability insurance of the site at the pool by Planning Minister Rob Hulls on August 11.
Council organis-ational development manager Robert Knight said the council would write to Mr Hulls and thank him for his personal involvement in resolving the "long standing and divisive issue".
Mr Knight said the Department of Sustainability and the Environment would provide $100,000 to fund the works that were outlined in a consultant's report.
Mr Knight said the council would appoint a Hepburn Pool Advisory Group as an advisory committee after public advertising for expressions of interest.
"The primary task of this committee will be to advise the council on the achievement of the two goals," he said.
The council will continue to act as committee of management for and on behalf of the Crown for the Hepburn Mineral Springs Reserve.
