CHRISTINA MacDonald could not wipe the smile off her face after she read a message on her mobile phone on Monday morning last week.
The year 12 Daylesford Secondary College student was one of three students at the college who achieved a score over 90 for her Victorian Certificate of Education.
Her score of 99.80 put her among the state's best and dux of the college.
She also got a perfect score in food technology.
"I couldn't believe it," she said.
"It's all a bit daunting at the moment."
Ms MacDonald studied specialist maths, maths methods, food technology, english, physical education and biology.
She said she studied three to four hours a night at her home in Porcupine Ridge.
"If you want to put in the hard work you will achieve it," she said.
"It was a good year, I enjoyed it. I had good support from teachers."
Ms MacDonald hasn't decided what she wants to do next year.
She was offered a scholarship from Monash University and applied for physiotherapy.
"I'm feeling burnt- out at the moment so I might take a year off and experience the real world," she said.
Ms MacDonald juggled many school activities with her studies.
She was Sturt House captain, school vice captain, and participated in swimming, triathlon, athletics, cricket, cross-country and football, the school production, senior concert band, tennis and the Daylesford Show.
"The school activities gave me time away from study," Ms MacDonald said.
